Period and listed property
Common across the county and worth its own paragraph. The risk is not usually the furniture — it is the building. Lime plaster marks, original boards scuff, and a door frame that has stood for three hundred years will not tolerate a corner taken at speed.
So protection goes down before anything moves: boards on floors, padding on frames and newel posts, and a route agreed rather than improvised. It costs a little time at the start and it is the reason these moves finish without a conversation about making good.
Access, county by county-part
In Guildford and Reigate the constraint is the town centre — narrow, busy, and with bay suspensions that need arranging in advance. In Woking, Weybridge and the commuter towns it is easy, and the volume is the thing to get right instead. South of the Hog's Back it is the lane: single track, no passing places, overhanging trees, and gravel that softens after a wet week.
Where a full-size vehicle cannot reach the door, we shuttle from the nearest sensible standing point — costed into the quote as extra hands rather than produced as a surprise.

Surrey is wider than it feels. We price travel as its own input rather than averaging it into the volume, because that is what makes two quotes comparable — and because a long cross-county move changes the crewing and sometimes the number of days.

What is in a house removal quote?
The vehicle and crew, blankets and covers, floor and door-frame protection, and taking apart and rebuilding what will not pass a door in one piece. Packing is priced separately because households want very different amounts of it.
Why does a survey matter so much here?
Because Surrey property varies so widely. A cobbled hill street in Guildford, a listed cottage below the Hills and a modern Weybridge house need three different plans, and none of that is visible from a bedroom count.
Do you handle listed and period property?
Regularly. The practical difference is protection rather than technique — old plaster, original floors and centuries-old door frames do not forgive a careless corner, so we board and blanket rather than rely on being careful.
What about high-value contents?
Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey so the right cover is arranged and confirmed in writing before you book. Pieces beyond blanket-and-strap get cases or crates.
Does distance across the county change the price?
Yes, and we keep it visible rather than folding it into the volume. Staines to Haslemere is most of a day before anything is lifted; Woking to Weybridge is not.
